Housing TT has announced a comprehensive series of community feedback sessions across Trinidad and Tobago to gather public input on proposed housing developments. These consultations represent a commitment to inclusive planning and community-driven development.
Consultation Schedule
Public meetings will be held in the following locations:
- Port of Spain: June 15, 2025 - Queen's Hall, 6:00 PM
- San Fernando: June 18, 2025 - City Hall Auditorium, 6:00 PM
- Arima: June 22, 2025 - Arima Town Hall, 6:00 PM
- Point Fortin: June 25, 2025 - Point Fortin Borough Hall, 6:00 PM
- Scarborough: June 29, 2025 - Scarborough Community Centre, 6:00 PM
Topics for Discussion
Each session will cover key aspects of proposed developments:
- Housing unit designs and layouts
- Community amenities and facilities
- Infrastructure requirements and improvements
- Environmental impact considerations
- Traffic and transportation planning
- Local business integration opportunities
Public Participation
Citizens are encouraged to participate through multiple channels:
- In-person attendance: Direct participation in community meetings
- Online submissions: Digital feedback forms available on the Housing TT website
- Written submissions: Mail-in comments accepted until July 15, 2025
- Focus groups: Specialized sessions for stakeholder groups
Proposed Developments
The consultations will focus on five major housing projects:
- Laventille Heights: 300 affordable housing units
- Morvant Gardens: 250 mixed-income units
- San Juan Estate: 400 family homes
- Mayaro Coastal Village: 150 beachfront units
- Tobago Highlands: 200 eco-friendly units
Community Benefits
These developments are expected to deliver significant community benefits:
- Creation of 1,500 construction jobs
- Development of community centers and recreational facilities
- Improved infrastructure including roads and utilities
- Enhanced local business opportunities
- Increased property values in surrounding areas
Next Steps
Following the consultation period:
- All feedback will be compiled and analyzed by the planning team
- Revised development plans will be presented in August 2025
- Final approval process will begin in September 2025
- Construction is expected to commence in early 2026
